Christmas is just a month away , I need to practice making Log Cake coz I promised Heidi the other day that I will make cake with Santa on Christmas day . I found in the internet , it just a normal Roll decorate with icing. I decided to bake a Blueberry Roll cake and decorate it with Left over chocolate Icing from the Sacher Torte the other day. Actually I tried to make Butter cream Icing but it turn out to be too soft and watery , oh well perhaps next time to make buttercream icing again . I have bought small Santas , reindeers and xmas Trees already ,after covering the whole cake with the chocolate Icing and tidy it up ,all I have to do is to place the Santa , Reindeers and xmas trees on it . so easy ..
Heidi n Clay were so Happy to see, they can’t keep their hand from it.. I love it when my kids enjoy and happy to see/eat my cake coz they are my main purpose to make cake for..

Rempeyek

Sometimes people use either Peanut only or Salty tiny sea fish ( Teri or in Spore people call it ikan bilis) . For me , I like to mix them both .. I love peyek and i think everybody will love this peanut and tiny fish crisp.. realy yummy ... gosh I have to swallow my saliva already ...
Straight to the recipe:

155 g (5 oz) peanuts
100 g Ikan Bilis ( small and white type )100 g (3½ oz) rice flour4 tablespoons starch 1 cup Coconut Milk + water
4 cloves Garlic
6 ea candlenut
Half table spoon coriander
1 egg
Salt ( if using ikan bilis which is already salty , pls don't put too much salt)

Crush Garlic , Candlenut and coriander finely and then mix well with rice flour , starch and coconut milk+ water in a bowl ( make sure that the batter not too thick coz it will make the Peyek very hard .. add more liquid if it is thick) .
Wash the Peanut and Ikan Bilis and mix'em with the batter .

Prepare the skillet and oil (@ least ¾ the skilet and fry when the oil hot from the side of skillet) till golden browned.

Photo to be post later .
Happy trying

Chocolate

Chocolate..is always remind me of my friend Lina, she is a real chocolate lover .
I went back to Indonesia - Pekan baru last March and happened to learn how to make chocolate from my sister's church friends . it was very easy ..

just buy the dark or white chocolate blocks
Oreo biscuit
all kind of nuts - macadonia , almond ect ...
the most important is the way to melting the chocolate
Chop the chocolate in to even sized pieces and place in a bowl. Place bowl over a pan of simmering water, stir gently until the chocolate has melted.do not allow a drop of water to fall on the chocolate or it will immediately stiffen dramatically .

when the chocolate has melted , mix 'em with either oreo biscuit ( for white chocolate) or nuts or anything you think you like to mix with .
put them in chocolate mould , wait until they cooled before stored 'em in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
Ready to serve...
Lina , this one dedicated for you .... cheers my friend.

Black Forest

This post is also present in my other blog adiaryoflove , I just copy and paste coz I'm quite busy to type again :
Last night I decided to make Black Forest , I got the recipe from Dapur Bunda ( too bad the moderator had just passed away).
This was my 1st time making this BF cake and it turned up to be Quite good@ least that's what my colleagues said so .It below part is a bit hard but the upper one is totally soft .. ( maybe coz I didn’t sift the flour as the recipe told to) .. anyway I also forget to put the Vanilla powder. But luckily it taste just what I expected it should be. The next time I try to bake this cake I will definitely sift ‘em.
My Heidi loves the whipped cream ,she helped me tidy up the cake Deco by trimming the cream and put straight away to her mouth hehehe…
Here is the recipe :

Black Forest by Dapur Bunda
( I have modified the recipe by my self)

Ingredients:

Barbie Doll Cake
This December my girl Heidi will turn 4 and I've promised her that I will make Barbie Doll Cake . Gosh , I need to learn and practise very quick quick quick . I have seen many types of BD cake in people's blog and they also post how to make and decorate it . I choose the one with Fondant coz it easier to make . this blog provide how to make and shape the BD cake skirt : www.sun-sentinel.com
Coz this one is only for Practising , I decided to use normal butter cake coz it easy and fast to make.
below is Fondant recipe from http://allrecipes.com:

INGREDIENTS
1 (.25 ounce) package unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup glucose syrup
1 tablespoon glycerin
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
DIRECTIONS
Combine gelatin and cold water; let stand until thick. Place gelatin mixture in top of double boiler and heat until dissolved.
Add glucose and glycerin, mix well. Stir in shortening and just before completely melted, remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Mixture should cool until lukewarm.
Place 4 cups confectioners' sugar in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and using a wooden spoon, stir in the lukewarm gelatin mixture. Mix in sugar and add more a little at a time, until stickiness disappears. Knead in remaining sugar. Knead until the fondant is smooth, pliable and does not stick to your hands. If fondant is too soft, add more sugar; if too stiff, add water (a drop at a time). Use fondant immediately or store in airtight container in fridge. When ready to use, bring to room temperature and knead again until soft.

I combine apple green, white and pink flower for the gown , I think it's lovely isn't it ?
